About Me

I am Sarah Holberry-Byrom (AKA Sarah HB).

I have trained dogs, taken classes, and carried out behaviour counselling for many years.

I am the only affiliated behaviourist for Greater Manchester Fire Investigation Dogs and I work closely with the International (Search &) Rescue Training Centre Wales.

Over the years I have become one of Stockport's most highly recommended trainers, through clients, Vets and local animal rescue branches.

I am a fully qualified ADTB (Academy of Dog Trainers & Behaviourist) approved instructor, a (Master Trainer) Member of the Guild of Dog Trainers,  an Associate of the Canine & Feline Behaviour Association, a student member of the NCCB (Northern Centre of Canine Behaviour) and member of the KCAI Scheme working towards Accreditation.

The KCAI Scheme is recognised throughout the UK as being one of the leading professional bodies for those who provide advice and training on dog behaviour.

I also volunteer my time as an RSPCA Dog Rehoming Coordinator and Dog Assessor for the Stockport East Cheshire and West Derbyshire Branch. I have been working with this branch for the last 5 years where I also sit on the committee as Secretary.

I am also working towards a Masters Degree with the Cambridge Institute of Dog Behaviour and Training and Middlesex University.

I have worked with and trained dogs in Crete, India and Turkey as well as all over the UK and this year I have agreed to teach in France and Spain.

As well as instructing and carrying out behaviour consultations, I have been lucky enough to train not only with the Manchester Fire Investigation Team & IRTCW, but also the Manchester Police Dog Unit and The Guide Dogs for the Blind. When i'm not working, teaching or training I compete in Agility with my own 3 dogs pictured below.

My methods are effective and kind and I use my skills of understanding canine body language & behaviour to identify which methods would be affective for individual dogs.  I do not use choke chains, pet correctors, shaker bottles or water sprays as I have found my methods have been successful without the need to resort to these training props

I feel it is important to keep up to date with modern methods and I enjoy and continue to attended practical training and formal academic courses, with the world famous Shaun Ellis (the National Geographic Channel's Wolfman), Patrica McConnell, Roger Abrantes, Ian Dunbar, Ross McCarthy, Lez Graham, John Rogerson, Sheila Harper, Moria Rogerson, David Ryan,Turid Rugaas, Nick Thompson, Grisha Stewart and many more.
